Pride and PrejudicePride and Prejudice is a famous novel by Jane Austen this is the depiction of the scenario of England’s t reality in the early days of the nineteenth century. There were women in England who wished to marry, for one reason that they lacked a good fortune, well here it all relates to being wealthy. They really didn’t bother is men were boring, unattractive, or even unintelligent all they pondered on was the riches they held in their pockets. Mrs. Bennet who is a one character in the novel that portrays the image of a miraculously irritating wife and mother of the Bennet family is very foolish and noisy as well. The only desire she seems to be born for is to see her daughters getting married. There seems to be absolutely no social grace in here and with here single minded attitude she turns everybody crazy around her. This character of Austen is a perfect picture of all the women in the society who feel that there is a desperate necessity of getting married. Mr. Bingley walks into their residential locality and seems to be fascinated by her eldest daughter Jane Bennet. Jane Bennet, the most beautiful and oldest of the Bennet daughters, she has a gentle nature and a very good heart as well. Jane rally round to keep her sister's propensity to be condemnatory in check by presenting a positive elucidation of pessimistic situations. Her desire to observe only the paramount in people becomes somewhat intense at times. Mrs. Bennet puts in her best efforts in pushing the two of them together. It’s not all champagne and roses just yet. At the same time as Mr. Bingley is pleasant and easygoing, his sisters are snobs of the first order, whose approach is optimistic by a confident Mr. Darcy. Fitzwilliam Darcy is from a very well established and wealthy family. He has a tendency to judge too harshly and hastily. He is somewhat overly conscious of his social status and is very proud of the same. He is a very close associate of Mr. Bingley. And when it comes to Elizabeth Bennet, The daughter of the second number of the Bennett’s family, she is the quickest witted and intelligent central character of Pride and Prejudice. She is clever, lovely and moreover she communicates as vividly as anyone. Thought her hasty tendency of making decisions and her tongue leads her into tracks that are astray. Heading to the progress of the novel, Mr. Bingley quietly puts a word to Mr. Darcy that he must ask the beautiful and gorgeous Elizabeth for a dance, to this Mr. Darcy gives a very cold shoulder saying, that the girl is not that really pretty. On the contrary, to their quiet conversation Elizabeth, gives a secret year, Ouch. The narrator has so beautifully portrayed the entire scenario where it becomes evident to everyone how slowly and quietly Mr. Bingley is giving Jane those sneak peaks to Jane and getting in love with her. On the other hand Jane hides her real emotions behind the curtain. Elizabeth gets the idea of what is going on between the two of them and discusses the same with Charlotte Lucas; Charlotte advises that Jane might lose Mr. Bingley if she keeps pretending to be the same. On the other side Mr. Darcy has dropped the idea of criticizing Elizabeth, moreover, he starts falling in love with her. All he has to say is that there is something amazing about her eyes. On the other hand sister of Mr. Bingley invites Jane for dinner, to which she accepts most willingly. On her way to the dinner she gets wet in the rain, and falls sick, she stays back in the residence of Mr. Bingley and her sister Elizabeth, comes to her to extend a helping hand and to nurse her. In the meanwhile Mr. Collins, a close relative of Mr. Bennet arrives in Longbourn. His idea is to get married to one of the daughters of the Bennet family. He seems to be attracted to Elizabeth, irrespective of the fact that he is a big time fool. Elizabeth is offensive and does not like the proposal. Following to the progress on the novel, there is an entry of the Bennet sisters to which the narrator has expressed in a very dramatic manner. With the sisters there is an entry of this sly man Mr. Wickham, who happens to be friends with Elizabeth, and tries to pursue Elizabeth that Mr. Darcy, is a sly man, he however, does not miss any opportunity to try to explain this to her, to which she gives a very positive approach. Coming next in the episode is the ball at which all the sisters of the Bennet family are invited. Elizabeth waits eagerly to look at the expressions of Mr. Darcy when she is on the floor with Mr. Wickham. However, Mr. Wickham does not arrive at the ball, and the pretty girl has to dance with Mr. Darcy. On the contrary the other two sisters of Bennet family, Kitty and Lydia are busy flirting with the officers of military. The following morning, Elizabeth refuses the proposal of Mr. Collins, and Jane gets a letter from Miss Bingley, informing her that he loves Darcy’s sister, and that they are departing for London. Jane is very heartbroken and heads for London to win back the love of Bingley. Meanwhile, Elizabeth comes to know that Jane is going to be proposed by Bingley, to which Elizabeth has a very narrow thinking. Elizabeth gives a reason of Jane’s broken heart and Wickham’s sly attitude of her anger. Darcy finally proposes Elizabeth. Elizabeth finds out that her youngest sister has run away with the sly Wickham. Elizabeth seeks help and comes to know the Darcy is the person who actually saved the honor of Bennet family. He helped get Lydia get married to Wickham, and pays off all the debt of Wickham. On the other hand Jane accepts the proposal of Bingley. Shortly thereafter, Darcy and Elizabeth go for a walk and have a very comforting talk and thank each other for all the time and help, representing love for one another. This is where the story ends and all are happy, specially the mother of Jane and Elizabeth. Major CharactersElizabeth Bennet: The second daughter of the Bennet family is the most quick witted and intelligent of all. She is the main character of the entire novel, and the story revolves around her. She is cheerful, clever, and lovely. She happens to have the most of the dramatic dialogues in the novel. She does not care of the spiteful society, and believes in her wit and virtue. Pride and Prejudice is the story of her love life. Fitzwilliam Darcy: He is the son belonging to a very rich family, he seems to be very proud but at the same time has a very soft corner for Elizabeth. He is a very hasty and harsh man. And has a very strong social status. Jane Bennet: Jane happens to be the eldest sister of Elizabeth, she also happens to be a very impressing character in the novel, not very keen in the judgments of others and relying on what is going on in her heart and mind. She falls in love with Bingley, and the story also revolves around their love story. Mrs. Bennet: the wife of Mr. Bennet. She is a very talkative woman, with just one motive in her entire life. To see her daughters get married to good and wealthy men. She babbles unwontedly all over, and gets annoying most of the time in the entire novel. She has a very unattractive figure as well, and sings horribly in the parties which she attends. Her motive in the novel also holds a very strong ground for the development of the entire novel. |
